I was super excited to photograph this sweet little family of three not only for that reason, but as friends' of my sister I watched them grow in anticipation and joy over the last few months. This little guy had just turned 1! Not only was it a special moment in his milestone, his family was getting ready to pack up and move to Orlando, FL. Dad had just accepted a job at Disney and had more close family living there, so they knew it was there place to be! It was an exciting time to celebrate the family move, take a moment to remember the incredible year that this little family has had and to have something to remember life in Chicago. I of course had to show off my favorites from this cozy Home Portrait Session!

When Priscilla first told me she was planning her Wedding Reception at Villa D'Citta, I got a little giddy. I knew I would fit right in because of all my travels and time spent in Italy. And I really felt like I was back in my home-away-from-home in the intimate and lovely Italian B&B located in the heart of Lincoln Park. Intertwined in the mix was the personal touch of red; in the flowers, Priscilla's wedding ring, veil and even in her wedding gown. It was so heartwarming to see Priscilla and Richard's love not only for each other, but also their closest friends, family and lastly their love and passion for the humane treatment animals and support to the organization PAWS. One of my first memories as a child is the day my parents brought home my new baby sister. All I remember is the glow and happiness that surrounded her and my family. So every time I see a brand new baby I get that same feeling. One I the reasons I became a photographer and why I love my job is I get to be part of a love story, whether it's a family welcoming their new baby or a couple saying "i do". Last Sunday was the perfect day to have a little family portrait session at The Crystal Gardens at Navy Pier. I was happy to complete one last session before the holiday rush. It was the morning after our premature winter blizzard, so Navy Pier was the most quiet I have ever seen it. Beautiful natural light, colorful garden and an adorable family of four...I could not ask for a better portrait session. Here are some favorites from the day!
I love the fall air, the changing of colors and the beautiful fall lighting in the sky. It finally felt like fall on Paul and Andrea's wedding day. It truly was a beautiful day and I certainly felt warm and welcomed by all of Paul Andrea's family and friends. I always get excited when a bride and groom choose a location that is both beautiful and new to me. After a quiet morning with the Andrea, her two lovely bridesmaids and parents we all headed over to the church for Andrea and Paul's wedding ceremony. Then together with Paul's adorable daughter, Alice and their closest friends we gathered at the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts for a fun walk through the sculpture gardens. This past weekend I got to sneak in another Children's Portrait Session since there was a 3 day weekend. And I discovered my new favorite location for photographing: West Ridge Nature Preserve. Just walking in I felt I was in a whimsical fairy land with freshly fallen leaves and trails that lead you through a forest. Fallen tree trunks lay perfectly for quiet resting spots. A lazy summer morning is one of my favorite times to work. Palmer Square Park is right around the corner from my house. It is a unique little city park, with little bunny statues and whimsical trees that surround the entire area. In my mind, it really is the perfect location for a Children's Portrait Session. I often find myself on the verge of tears, tears of joy that is, when I am shooting. Love is so powerful, experiencing and feeling the love that a couple has for each other is one of the reasons I love being a wedding photographer. This past weekend at Eric and Juan's Wedding my emotions were truly at the highest. I was surrounded my so much love, not just by Eric and Juan, but by their family and friends as well. I felt truly blessed to be present for the day. Here is a little sneak peak from the day.
I am so happy to finally share the photographs from Annie and Kim's Wedding! Not only is Annie my aunt, she is my godmother and we have always had a very special relationship. When she got engaged this past fall I never felt more happy for her. I think the key to happiness is laughter and that is what I remember growing up as a child with her around. And when I first met Kim I saw that Annie and Kim shared that same sense of humor. So here are some of my favorites from their wedding day.
